In this section of the examination, you are expected to have full knowledge of the following scales shown below. These are contained in two different groups, Group A and Group B. The examiner will choose one group to be played in your exam.
The test is in 4/4 time with a tempo of 70 bpm.
Group A Scales:C major, A minor and A minor pentatonic. One octave scales only.
Group B Scales: G major, E minor and E minor pentatonic. One octave scales only.
On the CD which accompanies the ‘Compose Play LIVE!’ book, both Group A and Group B scale notes are played with chord accompaniment and drum backing.
